Clarice Varn Tillman

SAVANNAH - Clarice Varn Tillman, 89, died March 10, 2008 at Spanish Oaks Retreat under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.

She was a native of Columbia, South Carolina but had lived her entire life in Savannah. She was a former member of Morningside Baptist Church and was presently a member of Bull Street Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her sweet nature and genteel manner allowed her to always see good in those that she met. Other than her family her real passion was playing bridge and enjoying the company of the ladies with whom she played.

Mrs. Tillman was predeceased by her husband, Mr. John Brooks Tillman.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Judy T. Green Patrick, Mrs. Joyce T. Weeks Jim, and Mrs. Janice T. Karrh Dr. Bruce, all of Savannah; 10 grandchildren, Terri Deason David, Ronnie Akins Kelley, Angela Murphy Ricky, Matt Weeks, Holly Geriner Clay, Lisa Leland Alston, Tammy Gatch, Allyson Tuck, John Gatch, and Ryan Gatch; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Dear Joyce, Judy and Janice, Your Mother was such a special lady. It always meant so much to me that she remembered me everytime I saw her. She was also very pretty! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. No matter how mentally and emotionally prepared we think we are, it's always difficult and sad when you lose someone as special as your Mother. Much love, Diane
